The Annual Plan Start with the Transition Phase (3 weeks) from the prior season (ending with L9 E/W Nationals and L10 DP Nationals). Finish with the Transition Phase for the upcoming season (3 weeks). This is a total of 55+ weeks of planning. The important functions from the annual plan, such as plyometrics, flexibility testing, and more, have also been included with the week they are to occur. Coaches typically have more than one level within each training group. These plans will aid the coach in implementing sound training methods per level. When the training cycle calls for a pre-season Mock Meet, as an example, all groups, Level 6/7 and Level 8, will also have this on their plan. For example, Level 9 completes its season earlier than Level 10. When Level 9 athletes finish, they immediately enter their “Transition Phase” (or “Fun”) stage for 3 weeks. After completing the 3-week prescribed ‘rest’ period, they start with their “General Preparation Phase”. Level 9 athletes will have one more week in their Transition Phase to allow Level 10 to finish their season and catch up and continue on the Level 9/10 Annual Plan. When other Levels complete their seasons, they take their “Fun” 3 weeks of prescribed rest… they will join the others in training during the General Prep Phase. Remember, the 3-week Transition or Fun Phase is NOT 3 weeks out of the gym. It is one full week out of the gym, and the next 2 weeks are spent doing fun hiking, biking, etc. with the athletes.
