This book started strong with action, character development, and diverse experiences. But after the women return from the war, the protagonist flounders and flounders and flounders… on and on for two thirds of the book. It ended up being more like a memoir of an addict than as much an historical fiction of the war and the nurses. I found I could not wait til it was finally over, despite the strong start.

I loved this book so much. If you get a chance to read it, read it. It was suggested by a friend who read it. I couldn’t put it down.

Just an amazing read with such accuracy in describing the impact of PSTD for vets and the lack of recognition all vets suffered in Vietnam, but especially the women. The perspectives of women at war were so telling and how their front line jobs were to save the men fallen from battle. Their impact and contributions were clear, and this book underscores the painful under appreciation they suffered for so long.

Very boooring. For 200+ pages all she does is work in the hospital and then party. Hospital bombs, then party. Thats it! Falls in love with multiple men, and they die. As a reader you don’t even get to bond with any of these lovers, the falling in love just happens suddenly & bam dead! The writing seems like for teenagers . I couldn’t finish it sadly.

This book is written at a low caliber better suited for junior high or high school level readers. I could not finish reading it.

Fantastic!!

I was hooked within the first few pages. Emotional and beautiful novel.

It was an excellent story. I couldn’t stop reading.Had I been 20 in the mid 60’s instead of 10 awould have gone to Vietnam as well. A brutal telling of senseless loss, and deep tragedy. I was one of those ambitious nurses , always looking for the next challenge. I know I would have thrived. I do remember the cruelty towards the Vietnam vets, and the years it took to begin the healing. They truly are heroes!
