    What am I going to say about this book that hasn’t been said a hundred or more times already? It’s fantastic. If you’ve seen the movie, you’ll notice about as many similarities as differences. The dinosaurs are wonderfully written and their victims all suffer some visceral deaths, far strong than you see in the 1993 film. It was so well received by readers that it’s the only book Crichton ever created a sequel to continue it.

    Okay, I'm a dinosaur nerd, AND I LOVE THIS BOOK. The plot is great, the characters are awesome, the writing style is just for me...I really do recommend this book!

  • Thrilling and Unexpected

    After thinking about this for a little while, the book is so much better than the movie. Due to emerging tech, the fact that Jurassic Park was possible as a movie is a feat that will always be remembered, but the book is so good and that much better. It even reads like a big dramatic-horror. Second read: still amazing. It is incredible that this one book is still being extracted from. There is a scene in Jurassic World Rebirth that is taken from here! What a book. If you’re a fan of the movies, read this book!

    I can see how this translated well to film, but I found the read slow with little real excitement. Also, unrealistic to this that the kids would have dealt so well with the situations to which they were exposed.

    I haven’t read this much in a long time. Thoroughly enjoyed the book, and though it was lengthier than the movie in its content, it was tense throughout. Going into it for the first time had me surprised at how different it is from how the movie turned out.

    It’s wild how much all the Jurassic Park sequels ended up pulling from just this one book. And honestly, the first movie feels so straightforward compared to this - in a good, refreshing way. The book had twists that really caught me off guard, like certain character deaths and who actually made it out alive. Definitely a page-turner. Shame it took me so long to finally read it!

    Whoa. As someone who does not read often, I was surprised at how quickly I became immersed by this book. Crichton does a great job of utilizes illustrations of computer graphs and screens in key parts. I felt like I was looking over Dr. Grants shoulder, learning about these creatures in real time. The story we all know and love takes a while to get started. The characters from the movie don’t get introduced till a third of the way in- persevere though! Once everything starts falling apart, it definitely gets exciting. 10/10
