The Practice of the Presence of God

This book is so beautiful and truly shows us the heart God wants His children to have towards Him. I loved this book at highlighted so many things. This book brought me more joy and excitement for the Lord than I already have. I cannot recommend this book enough. It’s such a short read and it’s SO worth it.

Do not turn this book away. The depth of devotion we see in this book is greatly over looked in the modern Christian world. We must do what this book shares.

I have wanted to read this book for many years. I don’t know why I waited so long. It is fairly short, so overall it doesn’t take long to read. Some of the language is a little dated. So at times you have to think about what Brother Lawrence is trying to convey. His thoughts are filled with such insight. He talks about how he goes about his daily life, always pursuing to remain in God’s presence, always trying to please the Lord, and clinging to God in his suffering. What joy this man has found. He simply lived for God alone. Every moment of every day. May we learn to abide in the Lord this way.

I have read this book more than once. Each time, it is as if it were my first time. I wished the format were better. It was difficult to highlight. But I will read this again.

This should be on the reading list for every Christian.

This book spoke volumes to me even at a young age!

The bible is only other book that has affected my life more than this book. The truths in this book will challenge you but lead you into a life of discipline in relationship with the Father. That discipline will turn into sheer joy and desire for intimate, moment by moment relationship with Abba.

I have incorporated this small book into my morning reflection & prayer time. Jesus taught us how to live. Brother Lawrence gives us practical advice on how to accomplish what Jesus asked us to do. Jesus was asked “Tell us, what is the greatest commandment Teacher?” Jesus said, “ Love God with everything thing you got. A second is like it, Love your Neighbor as you love yourself. This is what it’s all about”. Love God & Love your Neighbor(s).

To practice God's continual presence in my life is a lifelong journey of sanctification. I am in change continually as the Lord molds me into His man. This little book helps me yearly to define my life! Amen, and amen! Brother Lawrence continues to minister to me many years after he wrote this little book, and many years after my first reading.
