Description

Sure, I can rock a tank top and ponytail while collecting ancient relics, but don’t call me a tomb raider. I knew the guy who built the pyramids… and I mean in the biblical sense.

Archaeologist, fashionista, and an ancient immortal with a serious memory problem, Dr. Nia Rivers has spent the last few centuries filling in the blanks of her past, all while outrunning dark assassins and stealing brief moments alone with Zane, her immortal lover.

But when a two-thousand year old relic from her past resurfaces, Nia isn't sure if the story connected to it is one she wants told to the world. The fact that Tres Mohandis, a fellow immortal and Nia’s greatest rival, is determined to develop the land and bury the site before Nia can excavate it suggests some dark history lies hidden in the site. Worse, Nia is beginning to realize that she doesn’t dislike the broody billionaire land developer as much as she remembers.

Letting Tres have his way might be best for Nia, especially when the truth might expose a horrific crime from Nia's past—one with her name written all over it. But don’t all stories deserve to be told? Even the ugliest ones.

Even if it proves she’s not at all who she thinks she is.

Get this hot urban fantasy featuring spine-tingling adventure, twists on historical mysteries, and thrilling romance, where Tomb Raider meets Indiana Jones—and they live forever!

  • Good enough?

Bad books are fun to review, even if they are painful to read. This book started poorly with sloppy writing - for example, Honduras is not in the Amazon jungle, the Mayan civilization is not just hundreds of years old, and a French lover for 500 years definitely would use ‘tu’ instead of ’vous’. However, the (self) tortured protagonist reluctantly acquired a lively sidekick, who kicked her into gear and helped avoid a 1-star rating. The combo working together may make the next story less angst-filled and more entertaining, but I hope the author did her research this time!

This is the type of book you simply cannot put down. One interesting adventure after another, leading to a conclusion you simply cannot fathom. I really enjoyed the characters and the adventure they took me on. Book ended too soon for me. Looking forward to the next adventure.

I found lots to enjoy in this well written storyline. The characters are well developed and engaging and there are twists and turns throughout the pages. Looking forward to reading more.

Good start to this new series. Nia has the love of not one but two hunks. And teams up with spunky Loren to keep her on her toes. Can’t wait to see where the next adventure of Nia and Loren will take the two girls. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was a wonderful first book to introduce you to the Nia Rivers series. The world building and characters were so artfully described that it felt that you were right there experiencing the mysteries and trying to remember the past stories along with Nia. I can’t wait to read more adventures in the series to see what story is told next and learn more about the two immortal men in Nia’s life!
