Great story, characters, and writing. Very enjoyable to read.

Took me several tries and an amazing review from a friend, to actually get past the sample pages and purchase this book but I’m glad I did! For me this story is about perception, trauma and truth. Beautifully written.

Loved the pace of this book as well as the character development. Kept you interested until the end.

This is a perfect novel from start to finish. I loved it so much from the very beginning, and there was never a false step or false note. It was lovely.

A mix of depressing, pointless and boring that keeps you hoping at some point it will pick up. I stuck with it, and now I regret wasting my time trying to like the story or the characters.

This family has all sorts of past traumas and the author truly makes you feel deeply towards these characters. One of the best books I have read this year.

I love all of Ann Patchett’s books but I think the ones about family: Commonwealth, the Dutch house and now Whistler, all touched my heart and soul. I sure wish I had a stepfather like Eddie or a sister like Leda. This is an author who understands human beings.

Wonderful read

The complexity of love and human relationship is masterfully crafted in this story; I’ll forever be changed by this novel.

First time I’ve read one of her books. Definitely won’t be the last. A truly beautiful read.
