10/10 book, typically I can predict most books but let me just say this was so unpredictable with so many plot twists. The ending even threw me for a loop, great book & highly recommend.
Definitely worth the read

So good. So many twists, and the final one I’d have never predicted until the last pages.

Alice Feeney has officially earned my respect—and my suspicion.
This was my second experience with her storytelling after His & Hers, and once again she proved that she doesn’t simply write mysteries; she writes psychological puzzles that challenge every assumption you make.
I can honestly say I was wrong more times than I can count. Every time I thought I understood what was happening, another layer peeled back. Just when I believed the mystery had reached its conclusion, Alice Feeney reminded me that she wasn’t finished—not once, but multiple times. And when I say this novel twists until the literal final pages, I truly mean the literal final pages.
What impressed me most wasn’t just the surprises. It was how every major reveal was rooted in character, grief, betrayal, family, and the stories we inherit from the generations before us. One line in particular stayed with me:
“Sometimes we inherit heartbreak. Sometimes we inherit hate.”
That sentence resonated deeply with my own life, and it’s one of several reasons this book stayed with me after I closed it.
The novel constantly asks whether people can escape the patterns they’re born into, whether love can survive deception, and whether certainty is ever really possible. By the end, I realized the mystery wasn’t simply about who committed a crime—it was about how easily we mistake our assumptions for facts.
The only caution I’d give future readers is this: don’t become too comfortable. Don’t assume you’ve figured it out. Don’t assume the story is over just because it feels like it should be.
Alice Feeney has a habit of saving some of her biggest surprises for the very end.
If you enjoy psychological thrillers that make you question absolutely everything, this one is worth the ride.

Alice weaves a very good story! Many of the twists and turns are unexpected and they come at the reader nonstop.
Terrible

I cannot believe this piece of junk was written by a so-called accomplished author. It is so bad, so poorly written. The ridiculous plot lurches from one silly premise to the next. Can I get a refund, please?
So incredibly bad

The authors agent must be exceptional to have persuaded any publisher to print this.
A ride!
