More American Military Waste

Amazing story and history of our military’s covert operations, and soulless decay of institutions and individuals of authority that all added up to nothing to be respected.

The use of words that everyday people would never know makes me think Seth has an ego problem. I read 111 books last year and am no dummy but who the hell uses words like inculpated? And his obvious left bent and hatred of Trump makes me wonder if this book was written without bias.
Interesting and disheartening

This book opened my eyes to another story where people with power get to do what they want and get away with it. Basically what I knew about special forces, was from movies where soldiers are shown as heroes. And I believe that (hopefully) the majority of people serving in the military are there for the right reasons, but this book illustrates that in some cases there are more bad guys than good guys.
Seth doesn’t miss

Very good. I’m a vet and this book resonates.

As an Afghanistan war vet, this book really resonates with me. Active duty, you always see people getting kick out for failing drug tests. It’s wild to think how many ‘good soldiers’ did it to go harder on deployment and who gets protected and who doesn’t. I feel betrayed and feel bad for how SF is run.
There are some theories that don’t hold up, but over all if you want to get and idea of the secret wars SF ran, I think it holds up.
Not a good read

I had high hopes for this one. The author obviously has an axe to grind with the Special Operations community and anyone working with/for the Trump administration. I expected more research and less axe grinding.
Scary look at our special forces

Very disturbing look at our special forces troops , and how common drug use is among them . We are creating
drug addicts in the military by plying our soldiers with
amphetamines and sedatives in battle situations .
Terrible

This is a must-read and is very well reported by a smart, well-sourced journalist. It was just optioned by HBO. I can’t wait to watch it.
