I hammered this out in one sitting, and spent about as long mulling it over as I did reading it. Peck presents an interesting take on “hell” and the human condition, leaving the reader with plenty to consider about eternity, infinity, and hope.

What an absolutely impactful 100 pages. I read this in two settings and I am honestly bummed that it is over. I hope I forget it soon so I can re read it for the first time.

“Anticipation is a gift. Perhaps there is none greater. Anticipation is born of hope. Indeed it is hope’s finest expression. In hope’s loss, however, is the greatest despair.” I’ve thought about this book and quote long after I’ve finished it. Is this a reality that could come to pass? What could I do differently? Is there anything I can do to avoid such a fate? Hope, are you there?
