    The book was very vivid and told the story well. The only negative thing I could say is that more emphasis was placed on Pellilu than Okinawa. But I do highly recommend this book if you’re interested in the lives of our fathers/grandfathers back then.

    I read this memoir cover to cover in a time frame of about 24 hours. Extremely well-written, this detailed account of one Marine’s experiences in the Pacific give great insight to the triumphs and tragedies associated with heavy combat.
