I wanted to enjoy this book, but there are a number of spelling and grammar errors that made it difficult to read (including at least one instance of using an incorrect character name.) The story is intriguing, but the writing is a little simplistic and the characters are dumb. I won’t read the rest in the series, and don’t recommend this book.

Great book. I usually only read comics, but this was able to keep my attention to the end. Which is very rare.

Evokes the 19th century, but the characters, plot, and supernatural features are not particularly believable.
  • Read this tale! Not because it’s free, it’s really intriguing

This is not a rehash suspense/mystery where the names and cities have changed but it ends with happy ever after. No, this is a Victorian era detective who literally stumbles across a young and runaway girl whilst entering his precinct to begin a day of work. She’s an innocent yet accused thief. He is very clever and spots a few things that intrigue him about the story as well as the girl. He is clever. So is she! They begin to work on a case jointly and all heck breaks loose in merry old London Town.
  • Great suspense!
