The story that follows Mary Bennet from obscurity to finding her own bliss, did not disappoint. It detailed the lives of beloved characters beyond the pride and the prejudice, into the sense and sensibility and the happy endings deserved by (almost) all. Bravo!

One of my favorite books now. Deep characterization. A delight.

Turning the classic on its head, this book “sees” Mary, the middle Bennett daughter, as a fully formed human who worries, loves, angers and finds amusement far beyond how she was initially described. I love how Hadlow creates a deeper backstory for her and a cast of characters who support (or not!) and round out a woman who had some short shrift in P&P. Lovely.

Slow start, but well worth the effort.

Enjoyed this book very much. Shows growth of wisdom in the heroine. Loved the intellectual sparing matches. Will read more from this author.
