God bless Vice President Vance

I saw the movie on tv before I even knew the name J. D. Vance. But boy do we know him now. I’m nearly 85 years old and taught high school history in public school in Mississippi for 28 years Through some of my students I learned that there were many of my students with problems similar to J. D.’s. Just about my greatest pleasure (next to my four generation family) is having those students (both black and white) come to me in the grocery store, a restaurant or on the street and throw their their arms around me and thank me-sometimes for help I gave them that I may or may not remember doing. God bless J. D. Vance and May he continue to play a role in leading the greatest nation in the world.

Before JD Vance was the vice president his book appeared free on Apple Books and I read it with much intrigue.
My favorite kind of book takes me to a time and place I’ve never been and lets me feel like I’m part of the story.
This book did not do that.
I’m a lover of books. I read things that are hard to read. I like learning new things.
I didn’t learn much here. I didn’t feel included in the story. I felt like I was in the backseat of a station wagon going 40 miles an hour the whole way from Shreveport to Norfolk and the windows were covered.
I didn’t see the mountains or the inside of the authors home or their friends. It was an endless internal monologue.
For this I feel sad and wish to find better readings that demonstrate the lives of the people of the Appalachian mountains.
Hillbilly elegy was not it.
Moving and inspiring!

This is a fantastic autobiography. Frank, down-to-earth, informative. A very good read. Every American would benefit from reading this book.
Knowing J D Vance now as vice president it seems an odd title

It was so alien to my upbringing that I struggled to follow the storyline and in places it felt more like horror fiction. I grew up in a low income urban neighborhood surrounded by reminders of WWII
Great book

It makes me reflect on my upbringing and how I view myself and others that I know that are a bit different than me.
Good read about our 50th Vice President

What an inspiring story! It's the true story of a young boy from Middletown, Ohio, who overcame tremendous challenges and surpassed all expectations. Today, he proudly holds the office of Vice President of the United States.

Very interesting book that details the life of a poor hillbilly boy who rises out of poverty in Appalachia and becomes a Yale Law graduate. This book flows smoothly from start to finish and paints a vivid picture of the trials and tribulations of VP candidate, JD Vance. Highly recommended!

Amazing book! Thank you JD. Your book reflected a lot of my experiences growing up as poor white “racehorse” trash in the west. Carry on as will I.
